Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost to tint a large commercial building?
Costs are quoted per square metre of glass treated. Standard solar control film: AED 250-350/sqm. High-performance ceramic film: AED 350-450/sqm. A 5,000 sqm mixed-use building with treated glass on all facades typically costs AED 1,250,000 to 2,250,000. Volume discounts of 10-20% apply on large projects. How long does building tinting take to install?
Installation timeline depends on building size and occupancy complexity. A single office floor (500 sqm) takes 3-5 days. A 10-floor office tower typically takes 4-6 weeks when phased as one floor per week. Hotels and retail buildings with more complex glazing may take longer. Scheduling is coordinated to minimise occupancy impact; we typically work early morning or after hours.
Will window tinting affect the building's external appearance?
Interior-applied solar control film is nearly invisible from outside. The building's appearance remains unchanged. Some films (especially metallic types) may show slight reflectance tint from certain angles, but this is minimal and typically unnoticeable. If external appearance is a concern, we recommend ceramic films, which have minimal external reflectance.
What maintenance is required after installation?
Window film requires minimal maintenance. Annual cleaning with mild soap and water keeps the film in peak condition. Avoid abrasive scrubbers and ammonia-based cleaners (Windex, Lysol). High-quality commercial films last 15-20 years with proper maintenance. We provide detailed maintenance guidelines after installation.
Can existing window tinting be removed and replaced?
Yes. Film can be removed using heat and specialist tools. Removal costs AED 50-100/sqm and takes 1-2 days for large areas. Glass is undamaged and can accept new film. This option is useful if building management wants to upgrade to higher-performance film or change specifications years after initial installation.
